Arnold Bocklin - Isle of the Dead (second version) 1880

There are five versions of this painting in toto. Bocklin was often asked to make more versions of this popular image, and he did so with some variation in the images. Only four are still known to exist today, one presumably destroyed during WW II as part of the destruction at Hitler's bunker (HItler was a fan of the image and had seized one for his personal collection).
