Jeffrey Catherine Jones - Untitled

2001 Oil Painting

This image is vaguely reminescent of the famous Claude Monet painting of 1886 "Lady with a Parasol, facing right." (There is another Monet version of the scene facing leftward, Woman with a Parasol - Camille and Jean Monet, painted 1875, at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC. ) (Image below.)

Whether deliberatly or not, Jones' painting has a setting which utilizes the sharper, stronger colors of his later period (for another example, see 'Guardian of Dragons' at comic book brain.com).
